Hitoshi Kojo - La Comnunauté Pineal

Sample MP3 (128kbps - 1.3mb)

A short piece of mine was included in an unique compilation CD focused on flog voice which is published by a nature sound reserch organization in France called 'Sonatura'.

Frog voice is one of my favorite sound source for the composition. Officially it has already appeared in my installation 'Plexus' and the CD version, also in a compostion 'ka ra mo' for a compilation CD 'Hitokomakura' from 'and/OAR' label.

The main part of this composition was taken from the dialogue of human voices and 3 different kind of frog voices. The theme was woven with oraganic noises and resonances from natural materials like corals, water. The composition might have rather narrative and visionary impression as my piece.

Found-Sound Workshop

19 April - Khovd University (Mongolia)

My current residence city Khovd is difficult place to find a particular thing that you need. But junks are everywhere in the city and the circumference. So, I made a sound workshop with those found-objects. Most of partcipants were students of Japanese department of the university. But the number was surprisingly around 50!

The objects which we used were bones of cow(those are everywhere), stones, dried branches(it's a precious at here), metal hangers, pipe chairs, empty bottles, empty cans, metal sheets, broken cups, etc... First, I made a demonstration to play those materials. Then we made an improvisation with all together by my conduct. At the end, we had a free time that everyone could use and play whatever they want.

Stay in Mongolia

I've been visiting in Mongolia since beginning of March. The stronghold is in a city in the West called "Khovd" (might be written as Hovd on some maps). It's a small city, but a center for manufactureing and trade in Western Mongolia, also a meltingpot of many ethnic groups.

I'm working at a musical theater of this city as a technical adviser for sound engineering, and will make perfromances and workshops with folks at here.

Since the internet connection is limited, the update of report won't be so often though... there are some more photos and reports at my partner's blog

Radical Zero

Live Performance

Collaboration with Manu Holterbach

19 January - Lyon (France)

Manu Holterbach is a French sound artist who has been familiar with me since 2004 when I moved to Europe. We have shared the sense in not only music but also literature, and other fields of art as well.
First official collaboration was my participation to glass-harmonica project "Orbes" which is his permanent project with his partner Sophie Durand. We're also planning to make a recording of the project together in near future.

In this performance, we'll tune found objects, home-made and exotic instruments, electric fountains and field recordings to sculpt the sound in its matter, to open harmonic horizons and to draw lines of hypnotic drones.
